President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his resolve to transfer power to a president-elect on May 29, 2023.
This was spoken by Buhari in response to Mr. Shakib Ben Musa, the Minister of National Education, Pre-School, and Sports of the Kingdom of Morocco, who had visited the State House in Abuja as a Special Envoy of King Mohammed VI.
According to the constitution, the President’s tenure will end on Monday, May 29, 2023, following the inauguration of a new leader.
Buhari told Musa he would carefully consider the message provided and make an appropriate response.
He added assured that he would keep valuing and advancing the warm and friendly ties between Nigeria and Morocco.
For his part, the Special Envoy emphasized that the friendship and solidarity of the King, the government, and the people of Morocco with Nigeria persisted. He was joined by Mr. Moha Ou Ali Tagma, the resident representative of the Kingdom in Nigeria.
The 2023 presidential election is only 80 days away, and a number of the well-known contenders have already made their agendas and schedules public for Nigerians.
Prior to the main election in 2023, the candidates have also been traveling the nation to court people and win their favor.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, for its part, has also declared that it is prepared to hold a credible, free, and fair election the next year despite attacks on its Local Government offices in several regions of the nation.
