Nigerian musician Bella Shmurda stated in a recent interview that his buddy Mohbad had attempted suicide due to problems with his contract with record company Marlian Records.

Mohbad’s buddy Bella Shmurda, who has known him since they were both students at Lagos State University, said in the interview that Mohbad thought about killing himself while he was at odds with Marlian Records over his contract troubles.
Bella claims that Mohbad tried to commit suicide by jumping out of his house’s window before his fiancée saw him and quickly intervened to stop him.
One of the most significant stories in the music industry last year was the dispute between Mohbad and Marlian Records. According to the reports, he was accused of physical violence, drug usage, failure to pay royalties, and finally, contract termination.
Mohbad claimed that Marlian Records physically assaulted him during the conflict between the label and the signee over the latter’s demand for a managerial change, according to Pulse.
In response, Naira Marley claimed that Mohbad’s unpredictable behavior was caused by his constant intoxication. An assertion that Mohbad angrily refuted and denounced as an effort to obfuscate the facts.
As a result of the physical attack and the unpaid royalties, Mohbad would have his attorneys have Marlian Records end his contract.
