Muhammadu Buhari has taken to social media to proclaim that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has earned profits every year for the past 44 years.
According to Legit.ng, the president disclosed this in a Facebook post. It was a moment of celebration for President Buhari as the NNPC made a profit.
Two Hundred and Eighty-Seven Billion Naira (N287 Billion) profit after tax came after years of losses, according to the president. In Buhari’s view, this follows the conclusion of the statutory audit process for 2020.
He also said that the NNPC’s losses were reduced to N1.7 Billion in 2019 from N803 Billion in 2018.
Additionally, he disclosed that the NNPC audited financial statements will be published in due time.
“Transparency and accountability will be ensured by this measure,” he said.
