Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom is allegedly being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the Daily Trust, the anti-graft agency summoned the ex-governor to answer questions about his administration in Benue State.

Ortom, who arrived at the EFCC headquarters on Alor Gordon Street in Abuja at precisely 10:08 a.m., walked right in.

Terver Akase and Abraham Kwanhgu, his Principal Special Assistant on Special Duties, were spotted with him.

Ortom was still in a closed-door meeting with EFCC officials when reporting this story.

Remember that at the inauguration of the state’s new governor, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, Ortom handed over a debt profile of N187.7 billion to the new government.

The ex-governor informed Alia that the three volumes of handover notes summated his eight years in office.

Ortom said that as of April 2023, the entire income earned during his eight-year term was 734.9 billion, while the total debt accrued was 187.7 billion, which included unpaid pay, pension arrears, loans, and bonds, among other things.
