The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the country’s 36 states, is bringing together specialists in technology and transportation for a two-day national discussion to drive policy toward a tech-driven transportation system in the country.
The conference, which will also include an exhibition of the latest transportation technologies, will be held between June 7 and 8, 2022 at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, according to Frederic Oladeinde, Lagos State commissioner for transportation, who revealed this to journalists in Lagos on Monday.
According to Oladeinde, the event, which is being organised by the Nigeria Transport Commissioners Forum under the auspices of the federal ministry of transportation, will highlight transportation technology and investment prospects in accordance with global best practises.
Key decision-makers, experts, and operators from the road, rail, water, and air transportation sectors, he said, would attend to discuss current and emerging trends in smart transportation infrastructure, with the goal of adopting and implementing these emerging trends in the Nigerian transportation space.
“Coming together under the same umbrella of nationwide Transport Commissioners will provide a better avenue for seamless implementation of conference resolutions,” he said.
Leading manufacturers and suppliers of transportation technology solutions, according to the commissioner, will demonstrate their newest future-proven transportation technology solutions during the expo, which will also include a gala and industry award night to cap out the event.
“Such technologically-driven transportation modems that will achieve smart Nigeria that can only be arrived at through a well-researched plan and implementation,” Oladeinde added.
Lagos State was chosen as the host for the first edition of the national transportation conference/exhibition, according to Chinwe Uwaegbute, executive secretary of the Nigeria Transportation Commissioners Forum, because of its well-structured strategic transportation policies and management, which puts it ahead of other states in the federation.
