Karibi Fubara, the actor who played God Calling in Nollywood’s ‘God Calling,’ recently died of cancer.
The news of the actor’s death was met with shock on Wednesday afternoon, and tributes from colleagues and filmmakers poured in quickly.
Mildred Okwo, the director of ‘La Femme Anjola,’ stated on Twitter:
“Karibi had character poise and quiet dignity. Traits we need so much in our industry. I truly love this picture because i spent a good part of the evening watching him and his many facial expressions and ohh he had them! God be with you. Thanks for fighting the good fight. Rest”
In 2020, the actor revealed his struggle with a malignant tumor. He revealed on Instagram that he underwent surgery to remove 90 percent of the tumor.
Fubara made a comeback on the Arese Ugwu-produced ‘Smart Money Woman’ series months after his statement. Along with Osas Ighodaro, Kemi Lala Akindoju, and Toni Tones, the actor played Bolu.
Ugwu took to Instagram to express his grief over his death:
“Such sad sad news … life can be so cruel. RIP Karibi Fubara. Ours was a professional relationship but you were always so kind, so ready to work, such a team player, such a stand up guy with such an incredible talent. The world has been robbed of your light. Thank you for everything. “My prayers are with your family and friends in this difficult time.. May God give them the strength to deal with this loss..Rest in Power King.”
Fubara, a graduate of the Terry Schreiber Acting Conservatory, had a ten-year acting and modeling career. ‘Quams Money,’ ‘Before 30,’ ‘God Calling,’ and ‘Money Men Marriage,’ which is presently streaming on YouTube, are some of his notable features.
