The rapper has explained why she is having surgery.

Nicki Minaj, an American musician, has openly admitted that she undergone cosmetic surgery in response to body-shaming statements made by fellow rapper Lil Wayne.
During an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the rapper discussed her choice to get a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
The 40-year-old rapper said Lil Wayne used to make fun of her since she didn’t have a luscious derriere like the ladies he usually worked with in the studio.
This frequent taunting made her feel inadequate, prompting her to consider surgery to feel whole.
Minaj apologized for bowing to external influences and acknowledged feeling out of place whenever Lil Wayne brought in ladies with more voluptuous forms.
The fact that the barbs came from someone she formerly liked and looked up to in the profession added to her pain.
The artist explained how she had internalized the concept that hip-hop culture required that women have well-endowed chests and shapely bodies.
Despite Lil Wayne’s best intentions, Minaj took his statements seriously, and they eventually affected her choice to get surgery.
