Wizkid’s popular track ‘Essence’ has received fresh RIAA certification, continuing to pave the way for African music in the United States.

Wizkid’s “Essence” feat. Tems garnered widespread recognition in late 2020, more than two years ago, and slowly expanded from South Africa to other parts of the world. The end product was a massive success that went on to shatter a number of records and establish new ones in their place, the most recent being a third platinum RIAA plaque.
As “Essence” gained popularity and acceptability, Justin Bieber joined the remix and gave it a worldwide boost. As a consequence, “Essence” became the first African song to chart in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
After becoming platinum and then double platinum, “Essence” has now achieved triple platinum status after selling an additional million pieces, according to reports.
‘Essence’ now has the highest certification for an Afrobeats song, surpassing CKay’s ‘Love Nwantiti,’ which it shared the double platinum award with.

“Essence” seems to still be a fan favorite in the US, as seen by the fact that it won its third platinum plaque only a few months after winning its second. This is further supported by the song’s 33-week tenure in the top 5 of the Billboard Afrobeats Chart, where it has consistently performed well.
Although achieving a Diamond certification for “Essence” would be a difficult goal, there is no way to bet against this smash single that has won over listeners all over the world.
Wizkid just released his fifth album, “More Love, Less Ego,” and it will be interesting to see whether it produces another global blockbuster hit like “Essence.”
