The sequel will be available only on Disney+.

Tyler Perry has revealed that scripting for the anticipated second sequel to the 1990s classic comedy picture ‘Sister Act’ has begun.
According to Perry, Whoopi Goldberg will co-produce the sequel and reprise her role as Deloris (aka Sister Mary Clarence).
“The script is being written, and I am the producer on it — not directing. We brought on an incredible director [Tim Federle] and Whoopi’s really excited. I think that this is just what the country needs. We need that feel-good moment in the movies where you go, ‘Oh my God, I left there singing.’ That’s my hope,” Perry told The Hollywood Reporter.
Fans had been waiting for word of a sequel since the film’s second episode, ‘Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit,’ appeared in 1993, until Walt Disney formally revealed it in December 2020 at the Disney+ investors day.
The 1992 smash comedy, directed by Emile Ardolino and starring Goldberg as the fan-favorite cabaret singer Deloris Van Cartier, revolves on her quest to hide from a mob in a convent of nuns.
