In response to secessionists’ calls for the breakup of Nigeria, former Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, expressed his disapproval at the unveiling of his book ‘For the Good of The Nation,’ on Tuesday in Lagos.
In addition to raising funds for girl-child education, as well as promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this book was unveiled to celebrate his 60th birthday.
He believes that those who want to break up this country don’t know what they are talking about.
“I hope that my story and the stories of many of us here will be used to continue stressing that those who claim to want to break up this country do not understand what they are talking about.
“We need to keep this country together and if we complain about it, it is because we love Nigeria, and hopefully we won’t just complain.”
“I hope we can join forces with those who are on the very difficult journey to making Nigeria great.
He said, “I honestly don’t know why you want the country to secede.”. In his opinion, Nigeria has much to gain from remaining united.
The President encouraged Nigerians to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development in their own small way.
He urged people to pull together to help the government solve some of its problems rather than looking to the government to make all their problems go away.
As a result, Sanusi said the proceeds from the book launch would go to his cause of educating girls in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
He complained that many young girls completed secondary school but were not supported in continuing their education.
