The three camps were situated in Atta in Ikeduru, Izombie in Oguta, and Ideato North Local Government Areas of the state, according to Mike Abatam, Special Adviser on Media to the Imo State Police Commissioner.
On Saturday, Nigerian authorities raided three Eastern Security Network training camps set up by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in Imo State.
The three camps were situated in Atta in Ikeduru, Izombie in Oguta, and Ideato North Local Government Areas of the state, according to Mike Abatam, Special Adviser on Media to the Imo State Police Commissioner.
He said that some of the arrested IPOB members provided vital information regarding their camps and operations, as well as directing the tactical units of the police to the locations.
The hoodlums started fire on the tactical teams as they saw them approaching their camp, he said, adding that there was a strong exchange of gunfire.
“The hoodlums were overrun by the tactical units due to the greater fire power of the police, while some of the hoodlums escaped with gunshot wounds into the forest,” the statement said.
“We found a variety of weapons, stolen automobiles, explosives, gunpowder, charms, lPOB/ESN flags, ammo, bags of Indian hemp, tramadol pills, and a variety of other hard narcotics.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, praised the men’s efforts and asked them to keep up the pace.
“Yaro expressed gratitude to Imolites for their support and assured them of the command’s commitment to making Imo State crime-free.”
