Fans of DC Comics may look forward to an inclusive superhero figure.

According to the studio, Jon Kent will be bisexual in the upcoming Superman comic book, which will be released in November.

The new comics continue the ‘Superman: Son of Kal-El’ series, which follows the character as he inherits the Superman mantle from his father, Clark Kent, but narrative specifics are kept under wraps.

The studio also reveals how Jon develops a love relationship with his pal.

At the recently conducted National Coming Out Day, an annual LGBT awareness day in the United States, DC Comics revealed the newest plot element.

The series’ creator, Tom Taylor, told BBC that when he first received the job, he considered who the new Superman should be.

“It struck me that it would be a real missed opportunity if we replaced Clark Kent with another straight white saviour,” Taylor said.

The studio, on the other hand, was already exploring the idea of an all-encompassing persona.

“There’s been a real shift over the last few years – ten years ago, five years ago this would have been more difficult, but I think things have shifted in a really welcoming way,” Taylor added.

Despite early backlash from critics, the studio claims that the decision has been well accepted.
