Goodluck Jonathan was described by him as a true patriot and a peace ambassador.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been described by the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa, Mr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as a “special vessel” used by God to promote Nigeria’s unity and peace.
This was stated by Ewhrudjakpo in a goodwill message sent to journalists on Saturday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Doubara Atasi, in honor of the former president’s 64th birthday.
In the midst of the nation’s daunting challenges, the deputy governor said he was proud to be associated with Jonathan’s efforts to enhance national unity and cohesion.
He described Jonathan as a true patriot and a peace ambassador, recalling that the historic phone call Jonathan made in 2015 conceding defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari would continue to earn him respect and honor both inside and outside Nigeria.
The government and people of Bayelsa, according to Ewhrudjakpo, held the former president in high regard for his achievements both in and out of office, particularly for demonstrating capacity in managing the national economy and the diverse interests of the country’s ethno-religious groups.
He also praised Jonathan’s diplomatic achievements as a UN envoy and global citizen in the area of conflict resolution in Africa and beyond.
While wishing the Otuoke-born politician a happy 64th birthday, Bayelsa’s second-in-command prayed that God bless him with more wisdom, a long life, and good health so that he can continue to contribute to the betterment of humanity.
Furthermore, your participation in UN and African Union-led diplomatic peace missions in Africa and elsewhere is a source of inspiration for exemplary leadership on the continent.
His words: “Your Excellency, your birthday (celebration) creates a special opportunity for us to celebrate you as a worthy and illustrious son of Bayelsa in whom we are well pleased.
“We are always proud to identify with you and your enduring contributions to the upliftment and betterment of humanity.
“Your indelible leadership landmarks, especially the dizzying height to which you took the Nigerian economy, have remained a reference point in the history of our nation.
“Your Excellency, your dogged demonstration of patriotism for the continued corporate existence, peace and progress of our nation are highpoints of true leadership.
“We are indeed enamoured by your riveting legacy of selfless public service, which is worthy of emulation.
“It is, therefore, our thoughtful prayer as a state, on this special day, that the Lord God Almighty who has brought you this far, will continue to protect you and your family and bestow upon you long life in sound health to see and celebrate many more birthdays,” he said.
