Former President of the United States, Barack Obama in his usual tradition has this year, curated and updated his 2023 Summer playlist featuring tracks by Nigerian music artists Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.
Sharing the playlist with his Twitter followers on the 20th of July, Obama expressed his excitement saying; “Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer—a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed.”
Among the carefully selected tracks were highlighted, Grammy award-winning Burna Boy’s collaboration with US-based British rapper, 21 Savage titled, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World”, and Ayra Starr’s sensational song, “Sability”.
Meanwhile, this makes it the second time both artists make Obama’s list in two consecutive years. The 2022 list also included “Last Last “, and “Rush” by Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr respectively, with the likes of Wizkid, Rema, and Tems also featured in previous editions.
The inclusion of these Nigerian music stars alongside renowned artists like Jorja Smith, SZA, J Hus, Drake, Nas, and Rosalia adds diversity and representation to Obama’s list. The playlist features a harmonious blend of both timeless classics and fresh releases, making it a captivating compilation for music enthusiasts worldwide.
