On September 28, 2022, the public campaigns for the presidential and National Assembly elections will start. A total of 18 candidates will compete for Nigerians’ votes in the 2023 election.
Before the election, the presidential candidates from the major parties—including Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, and others—are going to battle it out.
The number of voters in the nation who are officially registered to vote is 84,004,084, according to data made public by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in August.
The general election is scheduled for February 25, 2023, giving the 18 candidates 147 days to campaign and win over Nigerians.
The campaign launch for the All Progressives Congress (APC), which was supposed to happen today, has been postponed indefinitely.
Campaigning won’t begin on Wednesday, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Plateau State governor and director general of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council, Simon Lalong.
He said that the campaign was delayed so that more party leaders could be added to the council.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on the other hand, has planned a number of activities to kick off its campaigning.
Atiku, the party’s presidential contender, would launch a book as one of the events to promote himself to Nigerians.
The party’s campaign council for the 2023 elections will be unveiled at the opening.
The leadership of the Labour Party has not yet created a campaign council, although the APC and the PDP had done so prior to the start of the campaign.
On the make-up of its presidential campaign council, the party claimed to still be engaging with relevant parties.
The party also stated that following discussions, its presidential candidate’s campaign team, and platform will be unveiled.
