A Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, set the record for the longest cooking marathon by a single person, and President Muhammadu Buhari hailed and honored her.
In the Amore Gardens on May 11, Baci began her four-day culinary challenge.
She smashed the record established by an Indian cook named Lata Tondon in 2019 by cooking for 87 hours and 46 minutes as of 7:46 am on Monday, May 15, 2023.
President Buhari tweeted his congratulations to the 27-year-old and said that Baci had brought attention to Nigeria on a worldwide scale.
The president referred to Baci as a cultural icon, claiming that her drive and tenacity had increased awareness of the distinctiveness of Nigerian cuisine and generated a lot of interest in it.
I share the immense joy of all Nigerians as Hilda Bassey Effiong (Hilda Baci) makes history by breaking the world record for longest cooking marathon. A great day for Nigeria. Meanwhile, Baci’s effort to break the world record was declared valid after analyzing the supporting documentation, according to a tweet from Guinness World Records’ official account.
For her record-breaking 96-hour objective, Baci plans to cook until 4 p.m. on Monday.
