Bello has expressed interest in running for the presidency.
News Agency of Nigeria
Governor Yahaya Bello has been backed by the Kogi State Forum of Former Political Office Holders to run for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
The Forum made the announcement at a press conference held at the NUJ Press Centre in Lokoja on Monday.
The support follows the governor’s creative and pragmatic leadership prowess in the state, according to Dr Abdulsalam Bawa Dangana, the Forum’s spokesperson and chairman.
Bello had done well in dealing with security issues in Kogi State, he added, and with such credentials, he could only be the finest candidate for Nigeria in 2023.
Bello has the ability to propel the country to ‘higher and enviable heights,’ according to the Forum chairman, who is also a former Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative and Assembly Matters.
Dangana stated that the Forum is announcing its unconditional support and devotion to the APC-led administration in Kogi State led by Governor Bello, in conformity with the realities of the present.
“We are a representative of the entire body of former Political office holders in Kogi State under the present administration.
“We therefore use this medium to endorse His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, to contest and run for the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023.
“At this juncture, we have decided to pass a Vote of Confidence on His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for the giants strides so far achieved in many fields of human endeavour,” he said.
Dangana urged well-intentioned Nigerians, particularly Kogi indigenes at home and abroad, to rally behind the governor to help him achieve his noble goal.
Ahmed Adamu, an architect and former Special Adviser to the Governor on Good Governance and Due Process, said the economy and all other sectors will thrive if the country’s security was repaired.
