The COVID-19 pandemic forced multiple postponements, but Broadway’s biggest night, The Tony Award, returned in a big way on Sunday, Sept. 26.
Moulin Rouge had a successful night with the four-hour celebration of the performing arts! The Inheritance and the Musical Slave Play, which had 12 nominations going into the night and was the most-nominated play in Tony history, was one of the notable snubs.
Audra McDonald, a six-time Tony Award winner, hosted the ceremony live from New York City’s Winter Garden Theatre, which was streamed exclusively on Paramount+ for fans.
The casts of the Best Musical nominees Jagged Little Pill and Moulin Rouge! performed during the concert special. Past and contemporary Broadway stars, including Tina – The Tina Turner Musical and The Tina Turner Musical.
Eligibility regulations reduced the number of candidates due to the shortened 2019-2020 performance season. Scroll down to discover who won a Tony Award!
