At the 2021 Emmy Awards, fan favorites “The Crown,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Mare of Easttown” did not disappoint, winning many awards, including top drama and comedy.

The Emmy awards appeared to represent the core TV-watching habit of the recent year: the move to soothing entertainment,” as TV reviewer Lorraine Ali put it.
Cedric the Entertainer hosted the 73rd installment of the Television Academy’s highest honors on CBS.
Other series that won several honors included “The Queen’s Gambit,” “Hacks,” and “Saturday Night Live.” Michaela Coel’s win for “I May Destroy You” was a vindication for what many saw as a Golden Globes snub, and RuPaul made history as the first Black Emmy winner.
