Rihanna’s Apple Music Halftime Show created history on Sunday night: not only did she usher in a new age of halftime history with an epic, career-spanning performance, but she also had a historic night on Apple Music.
Rihanna’s concurrent listeners on Apple Music globally increased by 331% immediately following her performance. She had many more concurrent listeners than any of the previous year’s artists. Overall, the hour after her halftime presentation was Rihanna’s most popular hour on Apple Music in terms of concurrent listeners and streaming.
Her discography has quickly swept the charts throughout the world. Nearly 16 years after its debut, “Umbrella” has hit the top of the charts in 105 countries, a new high for the song, and it is also the #1 song that her fans love to sing the most on Apple Music Sing. ‘We Found Love’ also charted in a record 92 nations, while ‘Work’ re-entered the charts in more than 50 countries. On Sunday night, Rihanna’s singles charted in 149 countries.
‘ANTI,’ which Rihanna described as her personal all-time favorite album during the Apple Music Halftime Show press conference, charted in 161 countries, including the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Halftime Show resulted in Rihanna’s biggest day ever for Shazams throughout Shazam. The show’s most-Shazamed minute was 8:31 PM EST, as well as the most-Shazamed minute in the US since last year’s Halftime Show, with “We Found Love (feat. Calvin Harris)” receiving the most Shazams during Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance.
