This comes after a building in Lekki collapses.

Following yet another building fall in the state’s Lekki neighborhood, Dr. Idris Salako, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Lagos State, has resigned.
The state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has accepted the commissioner’s resignation, according to a statement released by the commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
The statement reads in part; “This is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the state and wishes him success in his future endeavors.
“The Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are.”
Recall that in the wee hours of September 4, 2022, a seven-story building under construction on Oba Idowu Oniru Street collapsed.
Yesterday’s rescue efforts resulted in the discovery of two dead corpses among the building’s debris.
The property has been sealed by the state government since February 2021, according to Oluwafemi Damilola Oke, a representative of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, who talked to Pulse during the operation.
The developer and construction workers on the seventh-floor building have been ordered to be detained by the Lagos State Government.
