He said that Nigerians are currently focused solely on the COVID-19 outbreak, ignoring other fatal diseases that existed prior to the outbreak.

Dr. Akintunde Ogunfeyimi, Chief Medical Director of Ondo State Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa, urged Nigerians on Friday to maintain sanitary lifestyle at all times.
He told the Nigerian News Agency in Okitipupa, Ondo State, that it was the only way to avoid a fatal illness epidemic other than COVID-19.
He pointed out that Nigerians are presently focusing only on the COVID-19 epidemic, overlooking other deadly illnesses that existed prior to the outbreak.
Lassa fever, malaria, cholera, dysentery, diarrhoea, and TB were among the illnesses mentioned by the chief medical director.
“We must ensure we kill rats in our houses, cover our foods, clean our environment, drink clean piped water and generally maintain hygienic living to guard against contracting infectious diseases.
“We should also ensure we obey all the COVID-19 safety protocols and go for the COVID-19 vaccination to protect our lives,’’ he said.
Dr. Ogunfeyimi also warned against self-medication and encouraged individuals to seek medical help if they become ill,” he added.
