With his critically acclaimed albums and ground-breaking live performances, Burna Boy is one of the musicians spearheading the international exportation of African music, which is driving the growth of Nigerian music worldwide.
DJ Khaled disclosed that he has a song on his upcoming album with Nigerian Grammy winner Burna Boy in an interview with Rolling Stone.
The DJ and serial hitmaker claims that he has been feeling Afrobeats for a while, which is what inspired him to work with Burna Boy, the international face of Nigerian mainstream music.
Burna Boy has collaborated with several international stars, like Ed Sheeran, Future, Khaled, J Balvin, J Hus, Stormzy, and more.
Burna Boy worked with the renowned Wu-Tang Clan rap duo GZA and RZA on his album “I Told Them” from 2023. Along the way, he collaborated with J Cole and 21 Savage, building on the global success of his hit song “Last Last.”
News of a potential collaboration began to circulate after DJ Khaled shared videos of the two having dinner together on his Instagram account, along with a video of him listening to Burna Boy’s “I Told Them” following the album’s release.
During the interview, DJ Khaled disclosed that following the release of his upcoming album, he will be taking a hiatus from music to concentrate on other forms of entertainment, such as films.
Burna Boy is set to be the first Nigerian artist DJ Khaled collaborates with on a highly anticipated album that also features Drake among other superstars.
