The Afrobeats musician D’Banj has released his much-anticipated new album, “Stress Free,” a fresh, new body of work.
While evoking a successful career, “Stress Free” depicts a polished musician who is not just exploring but also having fun, with sleek production characteristics that highlight music producer Rexxie’s incredible abilities.
“After the terrible time that the globe has gone through, I turned back to legacy – which is why I had Egypt 80 (headed by Seun Kuti) on all seven tracks – and then settled into a state of zero concern. D’Banj adds, “We had a lot of fun in the studio, and hopefully it all comes up on the record!”
D’banj enters Afrobeats innovation mode on “Stress Free,” as shown by the multi-layered fusion of horns, saxophones, and futuristic synthesizers heard throughout the album. On the Afrobeat fusion track “Zombie,” the Afro-meringue mix of “Welcome To Lagos,” as well as the free-wheeling “Stress Free” and “Banga,” the Egypt 80 adds horns.
Meanwhile, “Ikebe” is a peaceful, uplifting prayer, while “Big Vibe” fuses the Amapiano sound with a pan-continental dance spectacular, and “Avocado” – starring Burna Boy – transports you to a magnificent Afrobeats heaven.
D’Banj’s invitation to live on the lighter side by letting go of what you can’t control and taking care of what you can is brought to life in a music video for the eponymous single, “Stress Free,” which brings D’Banj’s invitation to live on the lighter side by letting go of what you can’t control and taking care of what you can to life.
The video, directed by Clarence Peters, is pure entertainment, replete with D’Banj’s witty lyrics, fashionable clothes, and indestructible attitude.
