In order to safeguard the area, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reactivated the “G7” security operations.
As part of the “G7” security initiatives, the bordering states collaborate and establish alliances.
Anthony Ogunleye, the FCT Minister’s chief press secretary, said this in a statement.
During the monthly meeting of the FCT security committee, Sunday Babaji, commissioner of police for the FCT, announced this.
He stated that the operation will entail confronting terrorists and bandits in their bases, which are mostly found in states that border the FCT.
The police commissioner urged residents of the FCT to work together and cooperate in order to give the security services timely and useful intelligence.
He asked citizens to carry out their activities while assuring them of their safety and giving them security advice at all times.
“I call on residents to give actionable and timely intelligence to all the security agencies and to also be security conscious.
“I’m also assuring them that FCT is safe. Every member of the community should go about their lawful businesses. We are on top of the situation.
“We have deployed our men both overt and covert and we are doing everything possible in synergy with all the security agencies and support of our traditional rulers and religious leaders to make sure that FCT is safe,” he said.
Abu Mohammed, the FCT Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Security, disclosed that the chiefs of the security agencies in the neighboring states were ready to actively engage in the G7 activities.
Moreover, he warned citizens to be aware of bogus news, particularly on social media, which aims to frighten the populace.
He warned the locals not to panic and claimed that spreading such information would amount to aiding terrorists.
