Real Warri Pikin, real name Anita Alaire Afoke Asuoha, has spoken out about her struggles with mental health.
During a meeting with media personality Chude, the popular actress and social media phenomenon revealed a past suicide attempt in 2018.
Warri Pikin said that she and her husband, Ikechukwu Asuoha, had financial hardships in 2017 and 2018, prompting her to consider suicide.
Her suicide attempt, however, was unsuccessful. She recalls waking up in the third hospital and wondering why she was still alive during those horrible times.
“In 2017/2018, my husband and I had financial issues. We were in debt and everything, so when I attempted suicide on June 6, 2018, I didn’t die,” Warri Pikin bravely revealed.
She went on to say that she was sent to many hospitals after her attempt, but it was at the final one that she regained consciousness and realized she had lived.
She realized the importance of her life’s mission at that time. She saw the influence she might have by sharing her story and providing hope to people who were suffering similar circumstances.
She saw that she could use the power of the internet to reach a larger audience and assist people in need. Despite her enormous hardships, the comedian emerged stronger than ever.
The comedian said that she realized God spared her life so that He might use her experience to influence people around her.
“I said, ‘God, you see this is my story, I will use it to help others.’ It means if God didn’t allow me to die then, He wanted me to use the story to help others around me and not keep it to myself,” she passionately expressed.
She celebrated her ten-year marriage by renewing her wedding vows with her spouse over the weekend.
