Buhari has stated that the land is the answer to most of the country’s issues.

President Muhammadu Buhari has repeated that going to the field to work, raise crops, and fend for animals is the only path out of endemic poverty for millions of young Nigerians.
In a recent broadcast discussion with news anchors, the president highlighted the benefits of agriculture for a country reliant on crude oil profits, and he had yet another opportunity to tout the benefits of agriculture to an ailing economy.
“Only 2.5% arable land in Nigeria is being cultivated so we are going to turn attention for the time remaining for us, to agriculture.
“We need to buy machinery, tractors, clear the land, divide and encourage people to farm,” the president enumerated on his plan to lift millions of Nigerians out of poverty.
When a raft of grim current economic indicators were reeled out to the president, he said: “We have to allow people to get access to the farm. We just have to go back to the land.”
The president also stated that educated young Nigerians should not rely on the government to provide them with employment. When his term as Nigeria’s president ends in 2023, the 79-year-old has stated repeatedly that he wishes to retire to his cattle farm in Katsina State.
