Since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement, the media has extensively covered every detail of their lives.
Sky News claimed on May 17, 2023, that the couple and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, were involved in a near-catastrophic automobile pursuit with the paparazzi in New York.
According to the New York Police Department, the pursuit lasted over two hours and resulted in many near-collisions involving other automobiles on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers.
The pursuit occurred after Prince Harry and Meghan attended an awards event in New York’s Ziegfeld Ballroom on Tuesday, their first public appearance since King Charles III’s coronation.
According to accounts, the pair was pursued by up to six blacked-out automobiles driven by unidentifiable persons. During the pursuit, the cars were reportedly said to have driven on sidewalks, ran red signals, and reversed down a one-way street.
