Naomi Osaka Set for Anticipated Return in Brisbane

Naomi Osaka, the four-time Grand Slam champion, is set to make her highly anticipated comeback to tennis at the Brisbane International in Australia, as announced by organizers on Friday.

The Brisbane tournament, commencing on the final day of December, serves as a preparatory event for the Australian Open Grand Slam, kicking off in mid-January.

Former world number one Naomi Osaka, aged 26, welcomed her daughter Shai in July and hasn’t competed since September 2022, citing challenges with mental health and the pressures of tennis.

Expressing anticipation, Osaka shared her excitement about returning to the Brisbane International, stating it was a key tournament for her comeback this summer.

Having secured four major titles, including the 2019 and 2021 Australian Opens and the US Open in 2018 and 2020, Naomi Osaka spoke earlier this year about how her hiatus from the sport fueled her determination.

The tennis star, set to return in Brisbane, will share the court with fellow Grand Slam champions Andy Murray and Victoria Azarenka, along with players Grigor Dimitrov and Holger Rune.
