Mayor of Atlanta Declares November 18th As ‘Davido Day’ 

The Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, has acknowledged the contribution of Nigerian-American singer David Adeleke, better known by his stage name, Davido, to the city’s entertainment industry.

After the OBO crooner’s A.W.A.Y. Festival headline performance at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, the Mayor and Atlanta City Council proclaimed November 18 as “Davido Day” in honor of the singer.

In a message to the singer on his birthday, November 21, 2023, the mayor noted that Davido has “captivated audiences worldwide, becoming a global icon in the music industry. On behalf of the City of Atlanta, thank you for your tireless efforts as a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate. Throughout your remarkable career, you’ve amassed an incredible number of accolades and continue to use your platform to give back to communities in the United States and throughout Africa.”

“Be it resolved that we, the members of the Atlanta City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta, do hereby proclaim November 18, 2023, as Davido Day in the City of Atlanta,” the council said earlier in a statement.

Davido has also been honored by the Board of Commissioners of the Fulton Council.

The Board of Fulton County, Georgia, has declared November 21 to be “Davido Appreciation Day.”

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners issued a statement in which they declared Tuesday, November 21, 2023, to be “Davido Appreciation Day” in Fulton County, Gourgia, in honor of David’s contributions to the music and entertainment industries.
