The presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has referred to the leader of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as Olusegun Obasanjo’s lapdog.
On Monday, September 26, 2022, Sowore responded to Obi’s visit to Obasanjo by saying this.
Obi had already posted pictures of his meeting with Obasanjo on Twitter, claiming they had in-depth conversations about issues of national importance.
The presidential candidate also posted pictures from his weekend visit with General Abdulsalami Abubakar and General Ibrahim Babangida, two previous heads of state.
It was a pleasure and honour for me and my running mate, Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, to be hosted by Nigeria's military president, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, GCFR, at his home in Minna today. pic.twitter.com/8Owoy7GZy9

Together with Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, his running mate, Obi paid visits to the former military leaders.
Sowore responded to this on Twitter by referring to Obasanjo as the father who “double-ruined” Nigeria and calling Obi his lapdog.

The activist attacked the ex-generals when Obi visited Abubakar and Babangida, claiming that they had slaughtered citizens of Nigeria and looted the country savagely.
Sowore said, using the hashtag #WeCantContinueLikeThis, that the past military leaders thwarted Nigeria’s dreams for grandeur and still cling to power in order to cede control of the nation to their minions and cronies.
They robbed Nigeria blind, they murdered its citizen, they sabotaged its aspirations for greatness and now they’re hanging precariously to life yet they want to hand the country over to their apprentices, accomplices, minions, and cronies! #WeCantContinueLikeThis #revolutionnow pic.twitter.com/2C9jo6gmUk

Only two weeks had passed since Obi paid the former Nigerian president a visit before Femi Falana, a human rights attorney, advised the presidential hopeful against paying a visit to individuals who “destroyed Nigeria.”
Falana said that Obi won’t win the 2023 election by “adopting the method of the usual”. when addressing at the Labour Party’s national retreat.
