Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo Dies at 63 

The Senator passed away after a long battle with a terminal illness.

Senator Clement Annie Okonkwo, a significant player in Nigerian politics, has died after a long and grueling battle with a serious disease.

The senator, who had just celebrated his 63rd birthday on May 23, 2023, died on Wednesday, June 7.

Senator Okonkwo, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, was elected in 2007 to represent the Anambra Central Senatorial Zone in Anambra State, where he received strong support from his supporters. He was well-known for his commitment to public service, and he played an important part in creating laws and legislation that impacted the lives of many Nigerians.

According to family sources, Senator Okonkwo has been receiving treatment in the United States of America and was showing indications of progress. However, his health deteriorated recently, resulting in his untimely death.

The late senator leaves behind a political legacy and a bereaved family. His son, Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, is the House of Representatives Member-Elect for Anambra State’s Idemili North and Idemili South Federal Constituencies.
