Senate to Summon Service Chiefs Amid Rising Insecurity Concerns in the Country 

The Senate decided to summon the service chiefs following their deliberation on Thursday, addressing the insecurity issue in the country, particularly focusing on the recent kidnapping of five female students from the Federal University Dunsin-Ma in Katsina state.

The Senate plans to summon top military officials, such as Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, and Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar. Additionally, the Senate has invited Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for discussions.

The Lawmakers called for proactive measures to rescue abducted students and urged security agencies to address terrorism, particularly in Zamfara State. They emphasized the need for special military operations against bandits and stressed the importance of addressing manpower deficits in armed forces and police. 

The creation of state police was highlighted as a solution to security challenges. A meeting with service chiefs is planned, but a date has not been set yet, following the recent kidnapping of five female students from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma in Katsina State.

The police arrested one suspect in connection with the kidnapping incident of students from their residence near Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School along Tsaskiya Road. The abduction occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by an eyewitness to Channels Television.

Police Spokesman ASP Abubakar Sadiq confirmed the incident and stated that one suspect had been arrested. The investigation is ongoing to rescue the abductees from the perpetrators.
