President Bola Tinubu has appointed Engr. Bisoye Coker-Odusote as Acting Director-General/CEO of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) for a 90-day term beginning Thursday, August 24. Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, made the announcement in a statement.
Ngelale said Odusote’s appointment followed the president’s approval of the 90-day pre-retirement leave for Engr. Aliyu Abubakar Aziz, the current General/CEO of NIMC.
Aziz’s leave is scheduled to end with his eventual retirement.
According to a statement published by Dada Olusegun, the President’s special assistant on social media, in a tweet on Tuesday, August 22, Tinubu also approved the appointment of Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub as Director/CEO of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (DTAC).
Yakub’s appointment followed the expiration of the tenure of Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi, the former DTAC Director/CEO.
The two nominations come less than 48 hours after Tinubu formed his cabinet and swore in 45 ministers.
The newly inaugurated cabinet is said to be the most powerful in African and Nigerian history since 1999.
Tinubu has also appointed two coordinating ministers: Wale Edun, the finance minister and coordinating minister of the economy, and Ali Pate, the health minister and coordinating minister of social welfare.
