Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun presented the ₦273.9 billion 2024 Appropriation Bill to the state House of Assembly on Thursday. The budget, titled “Budget of Reconstruction and Recovery,” comprises ₦165.65 billion for recurrent expenditure and ₦108.25 billion for capital expenditure.

Adeleke emphasized its purpose to recover, revamp, and rebuild the state’s “battered economy” inherited by his administration.

Adeleke emphasized presenting the budget in accordance with existing laws, specifying that state budget drafts must be submitted to the House of Assembly for approval before year-end. He urged lawmakers to swiftly pass the appropriation bill.

Speaker Adewale Egbedun noted the historic significance of Governor Adeleke’s budget presentation, marking the first budget from the governor and the initial one deliberated by the 8th Assembly.

He assured a timely passage of the budget and instructed state ministries, agencies, and departments to provide the assembly with 35 copies of their budgets.

The Speaker further disclosed the governor’s nominees for boards of key state statutory commissions, such as the Osun Independent Electoral Commission, Osun Assembly Service Commission, Osun Judicial Service Commission, and Osun Civil Service Commission.

All nominees were instructed to submit 35 copies of their curriculum vitae to the Clerk of the House.
