Organised Labour Suspends Strike for Five Days

In order to allow for an uninterrupted meeting with the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage, Organised Labour has decided to suspend the nationwide strike for a duration of five days.

Vanguard was informed of this by a source close to the Labour leaders.

Vanguard had previously reported that on Monday, labour leaders successfully met with George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and other government representatives.

During the meeting, a resolution was made stating that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was committed to implementing a new minimum salary above N60,000.

They also decided that in order to reach a consensus on a National Minimum Wage, the Tripartite Committee would convene daily for the following week.

Labour suspended its strike at today’s FG Tripartite Committee meeting, which was set to begin at 10 a.m.

All government and private offices are anticipated to reopen and resume regular operations following this event.
