Jonathan advises politicians to put Nigeria above politics.
By Omotayo Olutekunbi
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that politicians must prioritize Nigeria for the country’s growth and prosperity.
Jonathan expressed his worries while appearing with Arise TV, boasting of his undying allegiance to the country.
Jonathan explained why he yielded to former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015, “I was more interested in the country than myself, which I advise the politicians to be more interested in the country than themselves. Without the country, there will be no presidents.“
The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s Peter Obi have petitioned the court to overturn President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory due to claimed endemic malpractices during the conduct of the presidential election on February 25.
They accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of rigging the electronic voting process in favor of Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
Despite the continuing judicial procedures, Tinubu has been sworn in as Nigeria’s President.
