Flights Disrupted As NLC, TUC Shut Down Airport in Abuja

On Thursday, November 9, 2023, a number of air travelers were left stranded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja due to chaos caused by officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) barricading the entry and exit points.

The NLC and TUC organized the protest in response to the recent attack on Joe Ajaero, the president of the NLC, in Imo State.

According to newly released information, all flights were suspended when the airport was closed by the combined team of NLC and TUC members.

The passengers were taken aback when they realized they couldn’t continue with their original travel arrangements.

Travelers are left stranded and frustrated as a result of the major disruptions to both domestic and international flights caused by the closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The NLC and TUC announced earlier this week that a nationwide strike would begin on Tuesday, November 14.

In response to their confrontation with the Imo State Government, the unions have taken this extreme measure.

The labor groups had warned that Imo State would be the target of their actions, and the closure of the Abuja airport is a clear indication of their determination.
