FG set to Close Murtala Muhammed Airport, Suspends Contracts, Concessions

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has directed all international airlines to vacate the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, from October 1, 2023.

According to him, this became necessary to make room for total airport maintenance work.

The minister revealed this while on a visit to the Lagos international airport with Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.

The minister instructed the airlines and businesses operating in the airport to relocate to the new terminal, MMIA Terminal 2, while speaking on the sidelines of the airport tour.

Additionally, until further notice, Keyamo has suspended all contracts, projects, and concessions in the industry.

All airlines should shift to MMIA Terminal 2 by October 1 and evacuate the MMIA before that date, he said.
