The commission encouraged the Houses of Assembly of the 36 states to move quickly to alter pertinent laws to allow for an upward review of compensation packages for public, judicial, and political officials.
The Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) has approved a 114 percent increase in the salaries of elected politicians, including the President, vice president, governors, lawmakers, as well as judicial and public office holders.
According to Daily Trust, RMAFC is saddled with the responsibility of determining the remuneration appropriate for political officeholders, including the President, Vice President, Governors, Deputy Governors, Ministers, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Legislators, and the holders of the offices as mentioned in Sections 84 and 124 of this Constitution.

NAN reports that the decision was made by the RMAFC Chairman, Muhammadu Shehu, while being represented by a federal commissioner, Rakiya Tanko-Ayuba, at the presentation of the governor of Kebbi State, Dr. Nasir Idris, with the reviewed compensation package on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
