FCCPC Storms Chinese Supermarket Over Discrimination Policy

Authorities from the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) have closed a Chinese supermarket located in the China General Chamber of Commerce in Abuja.

On Monday, the FCCPC authorities invaded the premises and closed the grocery. After questioning the Nigerian employees of the supermarket, agents from the commission locked the business down.

Nigerians had earlier on Sunday voiced their displeasure over a Chinese supermarket’s discriminating policy, which prohibited admission to anyone other than its citizens and excluded Nigerians.

The complex’s facility manager, Shaibu Sanusi, confirmed that Nigerians from outside the complex do not shop, but Nigerians within can access it.

While the supermarket is still closed, the consumer protection agency seems to think that some people are hiding inside in an effort to avoid conflict with the agency.
