The interim forfeiture decision imposed on assets owned by former deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu has been overturned by a federal high court in Abuja.

Inyang Ekwo, the presiding judge, ruled on Friday, January 20, 2023, and stated that the order was acquired by the Federal Government’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the basis of false information.

Justice Ekwo argued that the EFCC neglected to provide the court with the crucial information despite knowing that Ekweremadu was being held in the UK.

The anti-graft commission seized Ekweremadu’s properties on grounds of fraud and corruption. Ekweremadu is being detained in the United Kingdom on suspicion of human trafficking.
