Burna Boy, an award-winning Nigerian musician, has become the first African artist to reach one billion streams on Audiomack. This achievement highlights Burna Boy’s enormous reputation as a globally famous musician and illustrates the strength and reach of Audiomack’s platform in connecting musicians with a worldwide audience.

Burna Boy thanked his fans and Audiomack for their support, writing, “I am incredibly grateful and humbled; much love to everyone who has streamed my music and continues to support me; you all are the true MVPs.”

Burna Boy has been a critical player in the global rise of African music during the past half-decade. His two most recent albums, Twice As Tall in 2020 and Love, Damini in 2022, have both had over 300 million listens on Audiomack, with the latter also earning a GRAMMY Award for Best World Music Album, becoming him the first Nigerian musician to do so.

“We have been avid supporters of Burna Boy since the early stages of his career,” commented Jason Johnson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Brand Strategy at Audiomack. “We are incredibly proud to be a part of his journey not just in amplifying his music but in supporting his growth as an artist.”

Burna Boy remade three of his best tracks with an orchestra for Audiomack’s Trap Symphony concert series in August 2019. Burna Boy received a plaque from Audiomack in October 2021 for attaining over 300 million streams on the platform.

In less than two years, the African Giant has become the first African artist to reach one billion streams on Audiomack.

With over 25 million monthly users worldwide, Audiomack is reaffirming its commitment to increasing access for African music artists and listeners while also heavily pushing the Afrobeats genre.
