As President Muhammadu Buhari begins a two-day working visit to Ebonyi, security in Abakaliki, the state capital, has been ramped up.
News Agency of Nigeria
The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) also reported that the streets of Abuja had a fresh look, with various security officers stationed at crucial spots.
Soldiers, police officers, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps members are among the security personnel on duty, according to NAN.
Some locals in Abakaliki who talked with NAN said they are looking forward to the president’s visit to the state.
Mr Eugene Nwangele characterized the visit as important, particularly because stakeholders in the Southeast zone are anticipated to provide Buhari with problems that concern the zone and the country as a whole.
Nwangele said that the visit will provide a sense of recognition and belonging to the people of the state and the south east in general.
Mr. Chijioke Ama praised the state’s significant achievements and revolutionary programs during the previous few years.
“Yes, Ebonyi is fast developing, I thank the President for visiting us,” Ama said.
Mrs Juliet Egbo, a small trader, said she had seen an increase in patronage at her shop as more people came out to greet Buhari.
“There is need to stabilise the economy of the country to reduce the hardship being experienced by citizens,” she said.
According to NAN, diverse organizations, adolescents, and ladies are dressed brightly in various streets, ready to greet the president.
