After reaching a record-breaking 52 weeks on the official TurnTable streaming list, Asake’s “Omo Ope” has made history.
By Omotayo Olutekunbi
Afrobeats singer Asake broke a milestone on Saturday, January 28, 2023, according to Nigeria’s top music chart TurnTable chart, becoming the first musician to spend a whole year on the list.
The song, which was released on January 18, 2023, spent 52 weeks on the streaming list, making it the first song to accomplish this achievement, according to the statement.
Amapiano’s track “Omo Ope” feat. Olamide blends violins, chorister backup vocals, and wood drumming to create a popular tune that catapulted Asake to national attention. The album “Mr. Money With The Vibe” set a record and triumphantly ended a string of smash singles that had been launched by the single.
The song’s continued success on the charts is a tribute to both its brilliance and to Asake’s extraordinary journey to stardom.
Despite not being a part of his album, “Omo Ope” is still on TurnTable’s official streaming list a year after its release. It’s impossible to predict how much longer this historic record will stand as this is a remarkable accomplishment.
