Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, may launch his candidacy for the 2023 presidential election on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

According to reports, the minister may proclaim his presidential aspiration during the All Progressives Congress (APC) thanksgiving celebration in Rivers State.

Amaechi, a former governor of the state, is slated to attend the event among other APC governors, National Assembly members, and key Federal Government officials.

According to Vanguard, the state chairman of the APC, Chief Emeka Beke, and the South-South Zonal Vice Chairman, Victor Giadom, escorted several party leaders to examine the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, the location for the event.

It will be remembered that in March, Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai stated that Amaechi is interested in the presidency in 2023.

“Rotimi Amaechi is interested in running for president. He has the right to do so but I’m not running for anything. I’m not going to be on his ticket.” the governor said.

It should also be noted that a group named The Secretariat has backed Amaechi to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

According to the organisation, Amaechi is well-known in Nigeria, with friends and allies spread across the country.
