THE INDEPENDENT NATIONAL ELECTION COMMISSION (INEC) announced on Tuesday that the new registrants’ Permanent Voters Cards would be ready for pickup on or shortly after October 7.
Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman (Information and Voter Education Committee), stated this in a statement published at the conclusion of its review meeting in preparation for the Anambra State gubernatorial election slated for November 6, 2021.
“The commission observed that significant work has been made in repairing the commission’s facilities that were destroyed during the May 23 2021 attack on our offices,” he added. The burned-out businesses have been restored and are ready to receive materials, while repairs to the collation center and other impacted facilities are nearly complete.
“The preliminary register, resulting from the Continuous Voter Registration, has been shown and is being cleaned-up.”
