Police kill Bandits As They Repel Attack in Niger

At least ten bandits were murdered on Sunday when troops from the Nigeria Police Force’s Niger State Command repulsed an attack on Kundu, a village in the state’s Rafi LGA.

Two police officers are said to have died as a result of the incident, according to local locals.

On Sunday, Governor Abubakar Sani Bello paid a visit to the village to express his condolences to the police officers and to thank them for their service.

Bello reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to assisting the force in safeguarding the state.

“I’d want to congratulate you on the excellent work you’re doing, and I can assure you that we’ll equip you with anything you need to do your tasks more efficiently.

“Please be honest with me, and I will do all in my ability to make sure you folks receive what you need,” he added.

He also revealed that the state administration had made preparations for certain security equipment, which he said will come shortly and be handed over to the state’s police.

The governor also paid a visit to Zungeru Cemetery’s military checkpoint. Brigadier General Ademola Adedoja, the Brigade Commander, and Adamu Usman, the State Commissioner of Police, joined the governor.
