‘LOL: Last One Laughing’ on Amazon Video will be hosted by Trevor Noah.
The new project, which the streamer has dubbed its first South African original, is a six-part, unscripted comedy series starring ten eminent comics and performers.
The comic talents will face off against one another to see who can maintain composure as they do their hardest to make their opponents laugh for the chance to win the ultimate prize of 1 million Rand (more than $50,000). The winning South African charity of their choice will get the big award.
On hosting the show, Noah says, “I’m excited to be back home to host Prime Video’s first South African Original, ‘LOL: Last One Laughing,’ and to have a chance to connect with my home audience. I am equally delighted for the opportunity to be working alongside my fellow home-grown comedy stars on a show that not only entertains but gives back to the South African production and charity communities.”
The comedian left “The Daily Show” in September and this is his first significant hosting role since then.
The Prime Video property “LOL” is being adapted, with production taking place in more than 20 nations.
The Nigerian iteration, due to debut later this year, would be hosted by comedian and performer Basketmouth. Additional famous hosts include Rebel Wilson, Michael “Bully” Herbig, Eugenio Derbez, Jay Baruchel, and Fedez from Italy, Mexico, and Canada, respectively (Australia).
Early in 2024, “LOL: Last One Standing” will debut.
