Moet Abebe, a TV and radio broadcaster, believes marriage is a scam.
During a debate with fellow media personality Chude Jideonwo, Abebe discussed the institution of marriage, citing social pressure as a major issue.
The media star recently revealed that she had called off her engagement owing to abuse and expressed her thoughts on the motivations driving many marriages nowadays.
She noted, “Marriage is a scam. Women only do it because of the pressure of society.”
When questioned further, Abebe admitted that personal experiences might alter one’s image of marriage.
She stated, “If someone is so particular about something, maybe the person is coming from a place of knowledge or experience. I mean, they say experience is the best teacher.”
The TV host also disclosed that her last engagement was called off owing to domestic abuse.
Reflecting on this chapter of her life, she shared, “I could have been a married woman right now… It was a violent relationship. And I realised that is not what I want for myself.”
